Publishing Software Not Only Key To Publishing Success
For anyone who is working on digital publishing
projects, solid publishing software is an essential
tool. It is not, however, the only key to success in
the arena of digital publishing. Most of the
available software titles offer a great deal more
flexibility than traditional word processing
programs. But, the person using the software must
have some knowledge of page layout and design to be
truly effective.
In the past, most people who used digital publishing
titles were graphic artists and design layout people
for magazines and newspapers. Fortunately, the
skills these individuals had learned in conjunction
with their work can be learned by anyone with a
little instruction.
There are many advantages to using publishing
software rather than word processing programs. One
can use the area on the screen that lies outside the
document as a visible clipboard on which text,
photos, and other elements can be placed until it is
moved onto the page. Advanced layout tools help to
assure that columns are straight and even and that
pages are balanced to be aesthetically pleasing.
Advances in the field have made it possible to
create rich pages that feature links to other
information for a higher degree of interactivity
with users. There are also functions that users can
apply that allow them to manipulate the pages viewed
in digital format in ways that would be impossible
with printed pages.
